Waratah Golf Club would like to wish all our members and visitors a great Christmas and New Year. We look forward to seeing you all in 2012.
Waratah Golf Club
Welcome to the website of the oldest golf club in the Newcastle/Lake Macquarie region. Our club was founded in 1901 and this year we celebrate 110 years of golf that was originally played at Dangar Park (Mayfield) and on our present course at Argenton, Lake Macquarie from 1921. We can justly claim to be one of the founding golf clubs of the Newcastle District Golf Association.
The President, Board of Directors and staff would like to issue a very warm welcome to every member, guest and visitor to Waratah Golf Club.
Tradition
Our club represents the proudest traditions in golf. We have have a long and distinguished list of members who have learnt the game at Waratah Golf Club and who have gone on to play on the local, State and Australian levels. Our members have even made their presence felt on the World stage.
Our Course
Waratah Golf Club has two distinct score cards. One scorecard is for men's competitions and general play and one for ladies competitions and general play. The par (ACR) rating for men is 71 while the ladies par (ACR) rating is 72.
The index for each hole is statistically calculated, for both men and ladies scorecards, to provide a fair and equitable chance for any player in any playing division achieving a "handicapped par" result for each hole. The men's course was re-indexed from the 1st of January, 2011.
Membership
At Waratah Golf Club we offer a wide variety of membership types from full seven day members through to juniors and cadets and even just a Sunday member. All membership types carry with them the priviledges of being a member of one of the strongest clubs in the Newcastle/Lake Macquarie and Hunter regions.
