Golf at Waratah Golf Club
Waratah Golf Club has been a part of golf in Newcastle since 1901. This gives our club a history of 110 years which is the oldest in the Newcastle/Lake Macquarie Area.
Our club tradition is represented by the number of members and who have gone on to represent at all levels of golf, both in the Amateur and Professional ranks.
Part of the tradition of our club is the Special Vardon Event, the W E Alexander Open. This event is named after the long time club president (1927-1952) and has been run every year since 1952.
Our course has been continuely developed since it moved to its present location in 1921 and is renowned throughout the State as one presenting a challenge for all levels of golfers. While the course is relatively flat it can play very hard especially when the winds blow from the west.
Membership at Waratah Golf Club has long been seen as a privilege. The club offers many levels of membership from Juniors and Cadets to full Seven Day members. Membership that we offer can be paid for by a variety of methods all which makes it easier for you to be a member.
Competitions for members and visitors are played most days of the week. Social play is normally allowed after the competitions have all teed off. We offer a wide varety of competition types that make our competitions both interesting and challenging. Social golf clubs are welcome and tee times can be arranged by contacting the club.
